High capacity, high stroke-rate, top-quality products at a minimum noise level – these are just a few of the advantages of the MULTITWIST. Modern technology combined with many years of experience make it the ideal machine for twisted products and this concept has already won several awards.
Thanks to a variety of tools, the MULTITWIST is much more than a pretzel machine. It can produce many other twisted products such as plaits, knots, rings, sticks, loops and flat bread in different sizes and from different dough types. The tools can be simply and quickly changed without the need for additional assembly tools.
A single MULTITWIST can produce 2,000 pretzels per hour effortlessly. For industrial pretzel production up to 10 modules can be set up in parallel thus increasing the output to up to 20,000 pretzels per hour.

FRITSCH builds the first series of ASB automatic pretzel twisters: 8 pretzel twisters for a line with a production rate of 12,000 pretzels per hour. This first generation operates sequence-controlled with cylinders and belts.

The second-generation MULTITWIST fully automatic pretzel twister is fitted with a PSB pneumatic pretzel twisting system. It grips the pretzels from above and considerably reduces wear of components. The last generation of the PSB reached an hourly output of 1,750 pretzels.
Introduction of dough strand length control by means of a light barrier. The lengths of the dough strands are measured and ejected, if the dough strand length is outside the range of tolerance.
The MULTITWIST is given an SSB servo-driven pretzel twister that increases production speed to 2,000 pretzels per hour on one machine. The system also accommodates a variety of tools and thus allows greater product variety: for pretzel sticks, rings, types of flat bread, etc.
In the course of this MULTITWIST as a multi-talent was born
The SSB servo-driven pretzel twister is upgraded with a servo lift that can be set to different heights. In this way, the MULTITWIST allows for even more versatile product options.
Development of the tool for the production of single-strand braids, which created a high demand on the market.
The MULTITWIST is equipped with a camera-controlled center device and an automatic rejection system to center the dough strands on the conveyor belt. Dough strands with lengths outside the length tolerance are ejected. These two innovations increase the efficiency of producing single-strand braids and pretzel sticks.
Due to the multitude of new tools the MULTITWIST works with the new Radio-Frequency Identification Chip, short RFID, now. It recognizes the inserted tool and assigns it to the program which is currently set on the line. This protects the line from damages caused by operating errors.
FRITSCH receives one of the coveted “iba awards” for its MULTITWIST dough processing system. The independent jury especially praised the new tool that allows the MULTITWIST to produce knots fully automatically.
Installation of the first pretzel line with an hourly capacity of 20,000 pretzels. Up to now, the limit has been 16,000 dough pieces per hour. Instead of the previous eight modules, ten twisting modules can be integrated into the production process now.
Thanks to a new tool, the MULTITWIST is now capable of producing “Flesserl”. This decorative bread is an Austrian specialty made with one more twist than an ordinary braid.
